Mad Vantage

Playing 7.30pm Saturday 6th June at The Goods Shed

SOLUNE’s instrumental project, Mad Vantage, presents compositions exploring the sounds of prog-metal fused with nu-jazz: complex rhythmic designs, metric illusions and lush harmonic soundscapes. She has curated a sound which cements her as a powerful force; bursting into the heavy scene unapologetically with the use of synthesizers, distortion and electronic sounds.
Drawing comparisons to Animals as Leaders, Plini, Hiromi and Tigran Hamasyan, SOLUNE’s sound is decidedly her own – exploiting odd-meters and double-kick pedals whilst crafting grooves so unavoidably danceable. Mad Vantage has already received the 2025 APRA Professional Development Award, been named the 2025 MIJF Take Note Leader (with a packed out Night Cat performance October 2025), won the 2021 MWIJF Recording Prize, been featured in The Age, Wall Of Sound, Heavy Blog Is Heavy, Everything Is Noise, and supported acclaimed acts such as Anika Nilles, Brekky Boy, Grievous Bodily Calm and Your Girl Pho. Mad Vantage have just released their debut album, ‘MINUTIAE.’ on Art As Catharsis Records – not to be missed!

“…incredibly refined, expertly performed and highly resolved art. It is exciting, virtuous music that invites you into its orbit. It takes a lot of effort to make something appear effortless.” – Tim Nikolsky, Dingo Jazz Journal (2025)

“… it’s exciting. The tricksy time signatures illustrate a pitch of dexterity that pop/rock tends, as a rule, to find surplus to requirement.” – Michael Dwyer, The Age (2024)

“[Mad Vantage] understand that technicality doesn’t need to come at the expense of groove. There’s more here than just a lot of notes and counting – there’s soul.” – Eden Kupermintz, Heavy Blog Is Heavy (2025)
