The Little Brass Band

Playing 3.30pm Sunday 7th June at Castlemaine Bowling Club

The Little Brass Band – an award-winning Brass Quintet from the Goldfields Region- brings a vibrant mix of music styles to the stage, from traditional jazz and swing to classical favourites and everything in between.

Their sound is shaped by the rich harmonies and melodic lines traditionally found in choral music. Alongside the classic brass quintet line-up, the addition of flugelhorn and piccolo trumpet expands the ensemble’s tonal range, adding warmth, brilliance and expressive nuance.

Musicians: Frank Dyer – Trumpet and Piccolo trumpet. Simon Marcollo– Trumpet and flugel horn.  Janice Lynn – French horn. Cassandra Hiscock – Trombone. Amanda Holley – Tuba.

Notable Performances include: Commonwealth Games opening ceremony, Arts in the Park, Ballarat Begonia Festival, ABC live morning show, Ballarat Heritage festival, Ballarat Carols by Candlelight, Buninyong Carols by Candlelight, Castlemaine Jazz Festival, Community fund-raising concerts including Lifeline Ballarat, Prize winners – Australian National Busking Championships and the Australian National Band Championships.

Come along and hear some cool charts including; ‘Just a Closer Walk’ and ‘Alexander’s Ragtime Band’. And of course the Louis Armstrong classic ‘What a Wonderful World’! Even some Glenn Miller with an exciting rendition of ‘Chattanooga Choo-Choo’ arranged by our Trombone player. And a special feature piece ‘Tiger Rag’ with the Tuba taking the lead!
